In an interview with Times of India, filmmaker Shikhar Dixit said, “Kids are not the only audience for this kind of cinema, and they are also the ones who are going to be watching it on a large screen.”
Kids dvdPlayer is a dvd-based movie streaming app that was launched by a group of Indian startup founders in March 2016.
The app offers the opportunity to watch films in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada language.
The apps aim to deliver a cinema experience for kids.
According to a report by Indian daily newspaper The Economic Times, the app was launched in Delhi by a team of 10 entrepreneurs including former Mumbai film director V. Srinivas, film producer Rajiv Nair, and entrepreneur V. Rajendra.
The dvdplayer app has already attracted attention from top film studios like Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate and Warner Bros.
India has a booming cinema industry.
India is home to the largest cinema audience globally, with over 12 million movie tickets sold in 2019.
According, in the 2017-18 fiscal year, the country recorded a record Rs 2.25 lakh crore gross domestic product (GDP), the largest in the world.
In 2018, the cinema industry was the fastest growing industry in India with a gross domestic value (GVA) of Rs 2,07,636 crore.
