India has now seen the release of Akshay Kumaran’s latest film, Akshaya: The Legend of the Lost King, a romantic comedy about a love affair gone wrong.
It is the first Indian film to be released on a digital platform and will be available on Amazon Prime Video.
It will be followed by the release on Blu-ray and DVD on October 25.
Akshays version of the tale of King Akshayan has been dubbed into Hindi.
“It is not just about the movie itself.
It’s about the film industry, the whole culture of India and how people feel about the industry, how the industry works,” Kumaran told HT.
“We wanted to do something to make people feel more connected to the story, and we wanted to create a connection between Akshya and the audience.”
Akshashakam’s first film, Dhammakaya, was released in 2013.
The next film, The Legend Of The Lost King is scheduled to be screened on November 7.
Aeshay Kumar’s next film is expected to be in 2019.
Kumaran added that it is a lot more fun to watch the film on a TV set because it is not always in the theater.
The film was shot on location in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and New Delhi.
Kumarshan Kumaran was first introduced to the film-making world when he was a student at the Sundance Film Festival in the US.
He studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and has since made films including The Story Of The Last Samurai, The Three Musketeers, The Prince of Egypt and the film that won him the Palme d’Or.
